Quilt Barns

If you're looking for a fun and exciting way to explore the beautiful country roads of Vinton County, I recommend searching for the quilt barns. The trend of quilt barns is all thanks to Donna Sue Groves of Adams County. According to Ohio Magazine, Groves painted a quilt design on her barn in honor of her late mother, who was a quilter. Eventually the quilt barns became widespread throughout Ohio and even into other states. Vinton County currently has 23 quilt barns still standing. Although these are fun to locate and photograph, please be respectful and aware that many of these barns are privately owned.
